The Next Chapter Workbook: A Guided Journey for the Life You Leave Behind
If you know me, it will surprise exactly no one that I’ve written an End-of-Life Planning Workbook - and guess what? It’s officially published and ready to order!
Think of this workbook as a gentle nudge to get your plans in place before you shuffle off this mortal coil. It’s part practical planning, part deep reflection, and (I promise) not nearly as grim as it sounds. In fact, you might even have fun with it.
So, if you’ve ever wanted to get your afterlife affairs in order and reflect on what really matters while you’re still here - this one’s for you.
-
Let’s Talk About the Things No One Wants to Talk About (But Should)
Let’s be real - if you’re here, you probably have at least a mild appreciation for deep conversations about life, death, and everything in between. Lucky for you, I have many thoughts on these things, and I’m sharing them over on Instagram at @Next_Chapter_Counseling.
Come for the insights on end-of-life planning, grief, and meaning-making. Stay for the dark humor, practical advice, and gentle nudges to actually have those big conversations (yes, even the awkward ones).
Follow along - I’d love to have you there!

Meet your therapist
Are you looking for a therapist who’s part highly trained clinician, part grief witch, and part cozy cat lady with a minor baking addiction? Who reads reads about Victorian mourning customs for fun and has a working theory about ghosts and unresolved trauma, and whose not-so-secret life goal is to encounter a real-life Bigfoot?
Hi, I’m Samantha. I’m a licensed therapist, death doula, Reiki master, published author, and clinical supervisor. I help people navigate the big, messy, often taboo parts of life - things like death, identity shifts, anxiety, grief, trauma, and the weird in-between spaces where transformation tends to live.
Let’s face it, these aren’t exactly light dinner party topics - but they’re my favorite kind. I believe talking about the hard stuff (like fear, loss, mortality, and change) helps us live more honestly and with way less shame.
If you’ve got stories you’ve never told anyone because they sound too “out there” - welcome! This is the space for grief and ghosts, fear and longing, and everything you’re afraid might make people look at you differently. I won’t. Pinky swear.
My style is real, relational, empowering, and radically accepting. You can show up here exactly as you are: sweatpants, F-bombs, existential spirals and all. I won’t ask you to perform wellness or pretend to be okay. I’ll meet you where you are, with curiosity, respect, and some deeply nerdy knowledge about the nervous system and the soul.
Together, we’ll sift through what’s heavy, get creative about what’s next, and build a way forward that actually feels like yours.
If you’re ready to step into your next chapter - whether it’s grief work, deep soul work, figuring out how to keep going when the world feels upside down, or making sense of that unexplainable encounter you had in the woods - I’d be honored to walk with you.

As of January 1st, 2022, you have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost.
Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.
You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
-
I charge a flat fee of $125/session (up to one hour) for all clinical supervision and professional consultation services.
-
Sessions are currently offered via telehealth so that I am able to offer services across Oregon.
In some cases, I am able to provide in-person services to people who are bound in their home, in hospice, or in the hospital. If you'd like to learn more about home visits, please reach out and we can have these conversations.
-
Unfortunately not. Because I am licensed in Oregon, services must be provided to clients who are in Oregon at the time of session.
-
Telehealth has a number of benefits, such as:
Convenience - virtual visits can be easier to fit into your schedule and you can access services anywhere in the state
Access to care - you can access my services no matter where you're at in Oregon and you can join your appointment from your phone, laptop, or tablet
Cost savings - save on gas, travel time, parking costs, and missed wages
Fewer missed appointments - no need to miss an appointment because you can't leave the house due to illness or injury
Counseling from the comfort of your own home - and wearing your comfy clothes (no need to dress up!)
-
I offer services by appointment only Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and half-day Fridays.
We’ll arrange a standing time and day each week for your session so that it can be built consistently into your schedule.
The window of business hours varies slightly each day so that I can offer a wider medley of appointment times during the day and into the evening. I do not offer early morning hours because I would just be rudely yawning in your face the whole time. I am not a morning person…
